Friday 7^th of August saw the Lewis Pipe Band take part in Tattoo Hebrides, part of the Homecoming celebrations. With a backdrop of the Lews Castle, the band were alongside Eilean an Fhraoich, Isle of Skye, Uist, Strathaven, Mauchline & District, 7^th Scots pipe bands and the world renowned 78^th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band from Canada. Amongst the other acts were Glasgow based Sambayabamba, Highland Dancers from throughout the Western Isles, a Gymnastics display, Gaelic choirs and a Horse parade, followed by a spectacular fireworks display finale by Blast Design. The Tattoo was a huge success with over 5,000 tickets sold for the event.

The band would like to congratulate Tony Robson, and the Stornoway Amenity Trust, for the hard work involved in preparing the event, and a huge thanks to all bands, acts and all other organisers for making the night truly enjoyable for all. We hope everyone, participants and spectators, enjoyed the event as much as we did.

Carnival day followed with the massed bands leading the procession through the town, with a later parade on the pier. As always, hugely enjoyable, even more so this year with the addition of all the guest bands.
